The Canton Housing Authority's (CHA's) Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency Program hosted a "Make it Count: Taking Back Our Health and Our Voice" event on October 1, 2020. Held at Joe Prichard Homes, the purpose was to promote COVID-19 testing, voter registration, and voter rights to residents in the community. To slow the spread of COVID-19, thirty-three tests were completed, and forty-three households received masks. Executive Director Stanford Beasley highlighted the commitment of the housing authority for the wellbeing of the residents by covering the cost of tests for every household member within the Canton Housing Authority community.

During this event, the Epsilon Kappa Kappa Chapter of Omega Psi Phi and the Black Voters Matter organization brought attention to the importance of voting and voters' rights in the African American community. They provided sample ballots and distributed voter education material. Fifty households were educated on voting, and seven people were registered to vote.
