JACKSON, MS - U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Southeast Regional Administrator José Alvarez announced the selection of Adrenace (Shae) Williams as HUD Field Office Director for Mississippi.

As the Mississippi Field Office Director, Ms. Williams serves as HUD's liaison to mayors, city managers, state and local officials, members of Congress, private and non-profit developers, stakeholders, and customers.

Ms. Williams began her HUD career in 2016 as a Housing Program Specialist with HUD where she provided technical advice, funding opportunity development, grant administration, guidance, and policy interpretation on HUD housing counseling programs.

"Shae brings solid management experience and years of service to the frailest in our communities, and ideal blend to further HUD's mission," said Alvarez. "Her determination to help create sustainable, inclusive communities will be pivotal to improving quality of life in Mississippi."

"It is my duty to serve and advocate for those in need. I choose every day to serve my country and this new role at HUD allows for building partnerships and working together to make things better for families and communities in Mississippi," said Williams.

Ms. Williams is a former United States Marine who is a strong advocate for veterans and the underserved. She has over 25 years of senior management expertise in administration, program and strategic planning, finance, and community outreach.

Prior to coming to HUD, Ms. Williams served as the Executive Director of a Mississippi-based, HUD-Approved Local Housing Counseling Agency that served the people of Mississippi in the areas of housing, education, and economic development. Prior to becoming the Executive Director, she served as the Director of Community and Business Development, where she oversaw community-based housing programs and was responsible for establishing and maintaining alliances across the state.

Ms. Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from California State University and a Master of Science degree in health psychology from Capella University. She is a current member of the Jackson, MS Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., President Emeritus of the National Environmental Justice Academy Alumni Association, and a former board member of the Mississippi Commission on the Status of Women where she served in the positions of Treasurer and Board Chair.

Ms. Williams is a 2022 graduate of HUD's Management Development Program and a current board member for HUD's Veteran's Affinity Group (VAG) where she serves on various committees and special projects. She is also a member of the Federally Employed Women (FEW), the African American Federal Executive Association (AAFEA), and the National Congress of Black Women (NCBW) where she serves on the national board as the Recording Secretary and Chair of the Metro-Jackson Chapter, a local chapter of NCBW.
