HUD staff meets in Omaha to discuss progress with Heartland 2050 plan

On January 30, 2013, HUD Omaha's Field Office Director Earl Redrick, CPD Director Tim Severin and Management Analyst Reginald Robinson attended a meeting with the staff from Metro Area Planning Agency (MAPA) in Omaha. They were thereto discuss the agency's progress with its Heartland 2050 plan.

MAPA is a sustainability grantee from HUD.

Heartland 2050 is a 3-year regional planning study/effort funded through the Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities (OSHC). As part of requirements for the grant, the local HUD office is to routinely communicate with MAPA. They track the projected progress with its regional plan.

Essentially, Heartland 2050 is an effort to develop a long-term vision for the future of the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan statistical area. This two-state, eight county area includes Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, Saunders and Washington counties in Nebraska and Harrison, Mills and Pottawattamie in Iowa. It will respond to the needs of the region and area residents as it relates to economic growth and development.
