On Thursday, October 23, HUD staff attended Grand Island's 2014 Project Homeless Connect at the Evangelical Free Church on S. Blaine Street in Grand Island, NE. Participating both as vendors and volunteers, HUD staff assisted with the event on both levels.

With over 100 homeless or near-homeless persons in attendance, and a volunteer for each person, Grand Island's most vulnerable population were shuttled to the event. They were directed to a plethora of services provided by 55 service providers including: health, dental, housing, haircuts, community and federal services, job training and support, oil changes, car seats, bicycles and more, all free of cost. Project Homeless Connect is a nationwide movement currently including Hastings, Lincoln and Omaha.
