The third annual Iowa/Nebraska Peer-to-Peer Homelessness Symposium was held June 8-9 at Grand View University in Des Moines, IA. The Symposium serves as a forum for federal, state, and service agencies in Iowa and Nebraska to share best practices in ending homelessness.

During the two-day event case managers and administrators were able to network and collaborate on issues to help individuals and families who are living in poverty or are homeless.

Keynote speaker for the event was Bob Pulster, Regional Coordinator for the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness.

On Day 1, participants were able to attend a host of workshops within tracks dealing with Grant Management/Rural Program Initiatives, Housing Development to Reduce Homelessness, Veteran Programs/Coordinated Entry, and Homelessness & Fair Housing.

Day 2 tracks included Expanding Opportunities to Promote Self Sufficiency, Related services in the Refugee Community, Housing Persons Reentering Communities, and Youth and Certain Types of Special Needs Housing.

This year the symposium was a joint effort between the Iowa and Nebraska HUD Field Offices. Going forward the symposium will alternate between Iowa and Nebraska. We look forward to seeing you next year in Nebraska!
