Housing Improvement Partnership (HIP) Summit

On April 29, 2017, Senior Management Analyst Reginald Robinson, Omaha Field Office, attended the Housing Improvement Partnership (HIP) summit in Grand Island, Nebraska.

The Summit brought together contractors and developers with members of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) from Nebraska. The professional membership organization comprises approximately 20,000 housing and community development agencies and officials throughout the United States.

Kevin Kush, a former Boys Town coach, was the event's keynote speaker who says solving a puzzle, such as affordable housing, takes all the parties working together as a team. That was the mission of the HIP Summit, which included many housing partners and stakeholders from across Nebraska to hear Kush speak.

In a summit designed to bring the private sector together with government agencies to work toward affordable housing, he said, the key is for everyone to work with each other. "When you see these people work together, some tremendous things can happen, and the beneficiaries are the residents of Grand Island."
