Jersey City - HUD, Hudson County, Jersey City staff, and dozens of volunteers that donated their time in shifts during a 24-hour period, assisted in counting homeless persons in the County during this year's annual Point-in-Time count.

The Homeless Point-in-Time Count, the national one-night estimate of homelessness, measures the scope of homelessness on a single night in January each year.

The Jersey City count was led by Carol Sainthlaire, Program Director for Hudson County, who organized volunteers in shifts through the day and night to go out into multiple areas of the City where unsheltered homeless persons are frequently seen. Volunteers also prepared bags of toiletries, socks, and hats as well as gift certificates for food and beverages donated by fast food restaurants and coffee shops to give to the men and women that were interviewed.
