NAHRO Recognizes Housing Authority

The Socorro County Housing Authority will receive a Special Achievement Award Winner's Plaque from the Southwest NAHRO Awards Committee. The award will be presented to the Housing Authority on June 11, 2003, at the Council's 63rd Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Socorro County Housing Authority will receive the award for being the first housing agency in the State of New Mexico to receive HOME funds to rehabilitate 27 homes on Tribal lands. The Housing Authority received leverage money from the Rural Economic Development Agency's Section 504 program, Southern Community Action, NAHASDA (Navajo Nation) $498,000, New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority $664,000; and matching funds from the City of Socorro, Midwest Community Action, Socorro Mental Health, El Puente, New Mexico Health Office and the American Disabled Veterans.
