Las Vegas HUD Field Office Celebrated World Habitat Day

On Monday October 4, 2010 the Las Vegas HUD office celebrated World Habitat Day. For this year's event, HUD staff and community partners to help build three Habitat Homes in the Vegas Heights area of Las Vegas. There were 3 homes started. The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic needs like adequate shelter. For two consecutive years HUD has partnered with the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity Organization. Habitat for Humanity partners included volunteers and or financial sponsorship from Wells Fargo, Creech Air Force Base and MGM International. HUD partners for the day's event included the City of North Las Vegas and Olivecrest.
