On May 7, 2016, Tamara Gray, Director of the HUD Las Vegas Field Office participated in the fourth annual Nevada Homeless Alliance (NHA) Family Connect Resource Fair. The Family Connect event provides resources and information to homeless or at risk of being homeless families as well as other low-income families.

The Homeless Alliance recognizes that there are many families in Southern Nevada that are struggling with finances and food insecurity and don't know where to get help. Family Connect is an opportunity for families with children to learn about services that can assist them in preventing homelessness, get housing assistance and building self-sufficiency.

The free event held at Valley High School was a fun and effective way to outreach to the community. There were giveaways, food and games for kids of all ages.

The information provided included but was not limited to housing assistance, health care, legal resources, job training, behavioral health and childcare services. More than two hundred families were served by the seventy organizations that participated in this year's fair.
