Less than a year after ground was broken, a sparkling new senior development now glistens in the sunlight on Holt Road in Webster, NY. Elected officials, housing advocates and various government agencies gathered at a ribbon cutting in late February to celebrate the first-of-its-kind senior development built by CDS Monarch.

"I am excited CDS Monarch Senior Living is now open and I welcome all of the residents to their new home," said Sankar Sewnauth, CDS Monarch President and CEO. "I am grateful to all of our partners for their roles in helping to provide a place people where with disabilities can age in place with their peers in the community."

The new, 45 affordable apartment complex is a safe and comfortable environment that is inclusive of all seniors. Residents are offered opportunities for on-site socialization, entertainment and events. Residents also have immediate access to transportation through CDS Monarch and direct access to North Ponds Park. Additionally, residents have full access to the CDS Monarch Wolf Life Transitions Center which is less than a mile away and houses a therapeutic aquatics center, fitness center, restaurant, and several recreation therapies.

"Monarch Senior Living is one of the most complicated and creative deals our office has worked on, and we are proud to be a partner in helping to realize the dream of so many. Through the efforts of CDC, in collaboration of all of us here, the families in the Webster Community can now be reassured that their loved ones have a safe, affordable, home for long into the future."

The project was made possible with the partnership of Rochester's Cornerstone Group, Ltd., Cornerstone Housing Development Corporation, Lecesse Construction as general contractor, SWBR Architects, and Rochester Management Inc. as the management agent.

CDS Monarch was awarded $8.5 million in funding for the project from the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation, HUD Section 202 Program, the Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, and the Monroe County HOME Program.
