HUD Hosts Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

The HUD Regional NY/NJ Office held a Foreclosure Prevention Workshop on Monday, September 10 at its Lower Manhattan office. Two afternoon workshops were held offering homeowners, who are at risk of foreclosure or otherwise struggling with their monthly mortgage payments, an opportunity to learn about federal programs that may come to their aid. HUD staff addressed such issues as the National Mortgage Housing Settlement, Tips to Avoid Foreclosure, the public's Fair Housing Rights, and information about the FHA Resource Center and what services HUD approved Housing Counseling Agencies may provide. HUD staff was also available after the workshop to respond to individual concerns. About 20 people attended each workshop.
