Samuel Miller, HUD Region II Interagency Council Coordinator, participated in this year's annual New York State Rural Housing Coalition's Affordable Housing and Community Development Conference in Oswego, New York, along Lake Ontario's Oswego Harbor. The New York State Rural Housing Coalition is a nationally recognized network of housing and community development professionals that has been cited as a model program by the National Housing Task Force.

Members of this diverse group - including nonprofits, state and local government officials, housing developers, financiers, architects, regional planners, health and human services professionals planners, and others - share the mission of providing quality affordable housing to all residents of rural New York State. Together, this diverse network builds rural New York communities. The Coalition provides its members with training, technical assistance and timely, detailed information, fostering a unified voice for the quality of life in rural parts of the state. Among the state and federal leaders in attendance at this year's annual event was USDA Rural Housing Service (RHS) Administrator, Tony Hernandez. Administrator Hernandez was a featured panel member at the conference luncheon and also hosted a RHS stakeholders roundtable to discuss key policy initiatives in support of rural communities.
