On September 12th, the HUD New York Regional Office joined the Living Redemption Youth Opportunity Hub and the Osborne Association, a Taino Towers Envision Center Consortium Member, in the West Harlem Community Restoration and Re-Entry Project Kick-Off Event.

Due to COVID-19 social distancing protocols, the event was held as a community street block party located at Convent Avenue between 125th Street & 126th Street. A host of local community-based social services agencies provided free back-to-school supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and voter and census registration assistance.

Henry Comas, Region II Section 3 Coordinator, was on hand and presented on the Section 3 Program Opportunity Portal, which is designed to promote individual self-sufficiency through job development and employment opportunities. Mr. Comas provided information for low-income workers on how to search for jobs and how to post resumés and employment history in order to match them with employment and training opportunities.

Approximately 200 participants took part in the event. Local interfaith leaders, community leaders, and elected officials were among those in attendance.
