HUD's Office of Field Policy and Management (FPM) and Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH) host Lead Hazard Control Outreach Session.

HUD's Office of Field Policy and Management (FPM) collaborated with the Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes (OLHCHH) to alert and inform entitlement communities in New Jersey and New York about critical upcoming grant funding opportunities.

During the April 12th event, Deputy Regional Administrator Stephen Murphy emphasized the health risks of lead exposure and how OLHCHH grant funding "helps transform communities by fixing older housing, preserving affordable housing, and improving the health of children and families in our communities."

OLHCHH Senior Technical Assistance Specialist Jonnette Simmons provided an overview of grant programs and funding opportunities to address lead-based paint hazards, mitigate significant health consequences, and prevent the economic impacts of unhealthy housing, along with the proven benefits of healthy home investments.

Deputy Regional Administrator Stephen Murphy, Newark Field Office Director Justin Scheid, and Buffalo Field Office Director Lisa Pugliese engaged with over 60 participants from state, county, and municipal governments in the highest need areas within their office jurisdictions. Since 2017, HUD has allocated over $88 million of grant funding in New York and New Jersey to reduce lead-based paint hazards. With a focus on housing and health, Region II colleagues from the New York Regional Office, Buffalo Field Office, and Newark Field Office will conduct further outreach to promote the importance of healthy homes and upcoming funding opportunities.
