By Presidential Proclamation (www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2022/05/31/a-proclamation-on-national-homeownership-month-2022/), June is designated as National Homeownership Month. HUD's Office of Housing is commemorating the month and remains committed to breaking down barriers and racial inequities to homeownership, particularly in communities of color as well as other underserved communities. In support of this effort, Single Family and Housing Counseling will host a number of events that focus on new homebuyers and sustainable solutions for struggling homeowners.

This year's Homeownership Month celebrates the 20th year of this opportunity to amplify the benefits of homeownership and the work that remains to achieve fairness and equity in access to affordable homeownership for all Americans who seek it. HUD's Office of Housing and Federal Housing Administration play a vital role for the nation's homebuyers, homeowners, renters, and communities through their nationally administered programs.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is a federal agency that provides funding for rental assistance for low to moderate-income residents. HUD also provides funding to local governments and grantees for housing and services. For a list of what HUD does, click here: https://www.hud.gov/topics

The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) - The Federal Housing Administration (FHA), provides mortgage insurance on loans made by FHA-approved lenders nationwide. As part of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the FHA insures mortgages on single-family homes, multifamily properties, residential care facilities, and hospitals.

The HUD Office of Housing Counseling - HUD-approved housing counseling has been helping consumers across America make informed housing decisions for more than 50 years. Wherever you are in the housing process, the nationwide network of HUD-approved housing counseling agencies is here for you - providing insights and answers you need to make the choices that are right for you.

HUD's nationwide network of housing counseling provides valuable first-time homebuyer education and individual housing counseling sessions to help consumers prepare for and attain the dream of homeownership. Contact a HUD-approved housing counseling agency in your community to get started.
