HUD RA Ampry-Samuel Recognized in City & State's The 2022 Power of Diversity: Black 100

HUD Region II Regional Administrator Alicka Ampry-Samuel was recognized by the publication City & State New York as one of 100 of the most influential Black New Yorkers. The online publication covers New York's local and State politics and policy, and its readership is New Yorkers in politics and business. The distinction highlights high-level professionals in politics, government, business, and other arenas "who have blazed a trail for others – and are continuing to battle in pursuit of equal rights for all".

City & State wrote: "Former Brooklyn City Council Member Alicka Ampry-Samuel is familiar with the challenges surrounding public housing. Ampry-Samuel grew up in a New York City Housing Authority building in Brownsville, previously worked at NYCHA, and helmed the City Council's public housing committee. That made her a natural fit to serve as the regional administrator for New York and New Jersey at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, a position she was appointed to by President Joe Biden in January."

Since being appointed by President Biden, HUD RA Ampry-Samuel has immersed herself in agency policy and regional outreach, demonstrating that she deserves this distinction.
