The Faulkton Area Medical Center (FAMC) in Faulkton is the first new general hospital built in South Dakota in 22 years. The $6 million facility received $700,000 from the South Dakota Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to help build this new state of the art facility.

FAMC opened in July 2007 and provides full service medical care for the area. The 10-room 12-bed hospital has a 24-hour Emergency Room, a full time clinic, 24-hour lab and radiology services as well as physical, occupational and speech therapy.

The medical center is connected by a hallway to the assisted living center and the nursing home, bringing all of the health care facilities into one location. The new hospital employs 54 people and will continue to offer employment and health care services to the community and surrounding area for many years.
