During the annual June Festival of Cultures in Sioux Falls, HUD staff provided information from under their tent on homeownership, foreclosure prevention, the benefits of housing counseling, and fair housing. This annual festival is attended by thousands of local residents and is an event to promote diversity in the community.

Hundreds of people visited the HUD booth to seek information about becoming a home owner and they inquired about saving their home from foreclosure. HUD staff discussed FHA programs, the home buying process, homeownership classes and housing counseling. For those facing foreclosure, HUD made referrals to available housing counseling agencies and suggested additional contacts that might be helpful.

Kids visiting the booth received Franklin the Fair Housing Fox stickers and an FHA 75th anniversary balloon. Information was available in several different languages. Numerous individuals recognized their native tongue and were impressed that HUD provided information in so many different languages.
