April 2008 Volume 4, Number 4

Region X - Alaska, Idaho, Oregon & Washington

April is Fair Housing Month
In April 2008, HUD and our partners are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, which protects Americans against discrimination based on race, religion, gender, age, ethnic origin or disability. Our Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity (FHEO) administers and enforces federal laws and establishes policies to ensure that all Americans have equal access to the housing of their choice. Visit HUD's website for More about FHEO, "What is the law?", and Local HUD Offices of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity.

Persons with Disabilities
Are you a person with a disability? Are you a housing provider? Get answers to your questions about the housing rights of people with disabilities and the responsibilities of housing providers and building and design professionals under federal law. Visit HUD's website for Disability rights and resources.
