The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) (https://www.naca.com/index_main.jsp) held their 15th annual event in Nashville on March 5 through March 9, 2010 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center, where some 15,000 people from all across the country came to find any option to keep their homes and avoid foreclosure, and HUD was there to assist. HUD's Homeownership Center staff from Atlanta, Knoxville and Nashville assisted and coordinated the processing of many of the homeowners trying to save their homes.

Nashville Office HUD employee, Faye Reid assisted many of those seeking help during the event. "A majority of homeowners here are facing foreclosure, or had loss of income due to job loss or reduced hours," she said. "We assisted some 150 people with questions on their mortgage delinquency, and assisted people on the phone with lenders not represented at the event." For those seeking more information to avoid foreclosure, HUD has provided the best information available on their website.

HUD sponsors housing counseling agencies throughout the country to provide free or low cost advice on buying a home, renting, default, foreclosure avoidance, credit issues or reverse mortgages. Find a counselor in your area by calling (800) 569-4287.
