HUD to Donate Computers

The HUD office in San Antonio is donating two scanners and about 75 desktop and 30 laptop computers.

In accordance with Executive Order 12999 entitled Educational Technology:  Ensuring Opportunity for all Children in the Next Century, the highest priority will be given to elementary/secondary educational institutions, community-based educational organizations and eligible nonprofits in Federal empowerment zones or enterprise communities. Eligible organizations outside empowerment zones or enterprise communities will be considered next.

Requests for computer equipment must be in writing and accompanied by a statement of need, including the quantity needed.  All nonprofits, including churches, will be required to submit a copy of their 501(c)(3) IRS ruling as well as their bylaws showing that their primary mission focus is education.  Documentation supporting location within a Federal empowerment zone or enterprise community is also requested.

Requests must be postmarked no later than January 3, 2007 and mailed to:
