Goodwill Industries Offers Job Support Services

Goodwill Industries of Lubbock, Inc. celebrated Goodwill Industries Week (May 4 - 10) by recognizing partners in their Job Creation Program and honoring program participants at the Spring Partners Luncheon. Two years ago, the non-profit organization received a grant from Covenant Health Care for its Community Building Job Creation Initiative Program. The goal of the program is to help participants become economically self-sufficient so that they may provide the necessary goods and services for their families.

The HUD Lubbock Field Office is one of the partner agencies. These agencies have collaborated with Goodwill Industries to provide, education, fundamental training, employment, and support services to overcome barriers to employment. Other partners agencies include, but not limited to: Catholic Family Services, Lubbock Region 17 Adult Education Service Center, South Plains Regional Workforce Development Board, South Plains Food Bank, Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Texas Workforce Center - WIA Program, Citibus, Habitat for Humanity, and Covenant Health Systems.

Fundamental Training Opportunities provided by the Partner Agencies include:

  • Homeownership Training
  • Leadership Training
  • Advanced Vocational Skills Training
  • Entrepreneurial ventures
  • Literacy/language skills
