HUD and Columbia Non-Profit Housing Celebrate Grand Opening of Walnut Grove Apartments
Low-income seniors in Vancouver to benefit

VANCOUVER - On Thursday, January 19th, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will join Columbia Non-Profit Housing and community partners in celebrating the Grand Opening of Walnut Grove Apartments at 7213
NE 58th Street in Vancouver. The apartment, featuring 65 high quality rental units for seniors living on low incomes,
is 100 percent rented.

Walnut Grove is located at the corner of 58th Street and 72nd Avenue. Guided tours will be available between 11
a.m. - 12 noon, and again between 1 - 1:30 p.m. The program will begin at noon. Light refreshments will be served.

"Columbia Non-Profit Housing is very pleased, in conjunction with HUD and our other partners, to present this latest addition to our inventory of apartment complexes that are affordable to low-income senior citizens in Clark County," said Richard Sample, Executive Director, Columbia Non-Profit Housing. "This is the fifth such project we have sponsored. We invite the public to join us in the celebration."

Meyers, HUD Regional Director. "Columbia Non-Profit Housing's Walnut Grove Apartments again demonstrate its success in providing housing for Clark County's elderly enabling them to continue to live independently."

Walnut Grove was financed with a $5,061,200 capital advance from HUD, $859,494 from the Washington State
CTED Housing Trust Fund, $300,000 Clark County HOME funds through HUD, and $85,000 Clark County 2060 funds.
In addition, HUD provided a 5-year rental subsidy in the amount of $935,500 so that residents will pay only 30
percent of their adjusted income in rent.

The Apartments will feature a Neighborhood Networks Computer Center, a beauty salon, and will have a Social
Service Coordinator.

The architect was Jim Andrews, Walsh Construction was the general contractor, and G&B Real Estate Services of Spokane was the consultant. Vancouver Housing Authority acted as management agent for the rent up.

HUD recently awarded Columbia Non-Profit Housing $6.3 million for construction of another 56 unit rent subsidized affordable housing apartment offering supportive housing for low-income elderly in Vancouver. Columbia Non-Profit
has developed 172 units of HUD Section 202 housing for the elderly and Section 811 housing for the disabled.
