HUD SECRETARY DONOVAN APPOINTS NORHTWEST REGIONAL ADMINISTRATOR MCBRIDE TO HEADQUARTERS POST

SEATTLE - U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan yesterday announced the appointment of HUD Northwest Regional Administrator Mary McBride to serve as HUD's Assistant Deputy Secretary for Field Policy and Management in Washington, D.C. with the start of a new Federal fiscal year on October 1st.

Until a successor is named, Deputy Regional Administrator Donna Batch will serve as acting Regional Administrator for Region 10 which includes Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.

"Mary comes to us from Seattle where she has ably served as our regional administrator," said Secretary Donovan. "During her tenure, Mary built a strong rapport with our partners throughout the Pacific Northwest. She promoted the President's priorities on a variety of quality of life issues which encouraged and stimulated the very sort of innovation in housing and neighborhood improvements that we have come to expect from that part of the country."

The Secretary also has appointed the current Assistant Deputy Secretary - Pat Hoban-Moore - to serve as the HUD's Director of Administration.

Ms. McBride has served as Regional Administrator for Region 10 since March, 2010. Prior to joining HUD, she had served as a regional director for U.S. Senator Patty Murray and, during the Clinton Administration, as State Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development in Washington state. Her first job after completing service in the Peace Corps was with the economic development agency serving southeastern Washington. A native of Statesboro, Georgia, Ms. McBride received a bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University and did graduate work in regional and urban planning at Eastern Washington University.

With a staff of some 350 full-time employees working at 80 regional and state field offices around the country, HUD's Office of Field Policy and Management serves as the Department's "front door" and FPM staff are responsible for insuring effective delivery of HUD programs and services to both individuals and communities.
