The HUD Wyoming field office, in partnership with the Casper Housing Authority, Community Action Partnership of Natrona County, Health Care for the Homeless and University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program, hosted a vaccine block party on Friday, August 13th. Community members celebrated receiving their vaccine with a cookout, bounce houses, and games. The goal of the event was to provide a fun and safe environment where community members could come together to get vaccinated and help join the fight against COVID-19.

Although Wyoming has a very high vaccine hesitancy rate (only 34% of the state is fully vaccinated), turnout for the event exceeded expectations and every vaccine on hand was administered! Health Care for the Homeless had their new mobile clinic onsite where nurses were available to administer the shots. University of Wyoming doctors and pharmacists were also on onsite to help answer any questions about the vaccine. Casper Housing Authority and the HUD Wyoming Field Office wanted to create an event that would bring the community together and inspire confidence in the vaccination efforts.
