Section 202 - Supportive Housing for the Elderly

Project description:

The proposed project will consist of fifty apartment units, of which forty-nine are one-bedroom units and one two-bedroom manager's unit. Five percent of the units will be designed as accessible in accordance with the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards and other Federal and State requirements. An additional two percent of the units will be designed for persons with visual and/ or hearing impairments. Included in the design are features and amenities which will improve the quality of life and facilitate the economic delivery of all services to the residents.

Project description:

An allocation of funding has been approved for the construction of 50 one-bedroom apartments for the very low-income elderly in the town of Merrillville, Lake County, Indiana. The goal of the Sponsor is to provide affordable housing which is designed to meet the physical, social and psychological needs of the residents. A wide range of activities will be provided to meet the individual needs of each resident to improve longevity and quality of life. The operation of each project is designed not only to address the resident's shelter and health needs, but also to provide stimuli that will encourage them to get out of their apartments and stay active in the community, thereby avoiding debilitating isolation.

Section 811 - Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities

Project description:

An allocation of funding has been approved to provide for the construction of a ten-unit apartment building in the town of Flora, Carroll County, Indiana. The project will consist of 1 two- bedroom apartment and 9 one-bedroom apartments for persons who have developmental disabilities. The Sponsor will provide as supportive services to this project, transitional vocational training, training in daily living, literacy and leisure time skills. The Sponsor will also provide transportation and job placement services, counseling and support services to increase self-dependency.

Project description:

An allocation of funding has been approved to provide for the construction of a six-person group home for persons with chronic mental illness in the town of Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana. The design of the project will facilitate the integration of the residents into the surrounding community. Residents will have ready access to community facilities, shopping, recreational facilities and employment opportunities. The Sponsor will also provide rehabilitative day treatment services, medical management, and other outpatient services including case management and education.
