The funds will be used for the new construction of an apartment building for the elderly. The building will consist of 46 one-bedroom units plus community space. It is designed to accommodate persons over the age of 62 and will provide a range of services tailored to meet the special needs of the elderly occupying the development. Special design features in individual units and common spaces, such as emergency call systems, non-slip floor surfaces, and grab bars, will ensure the physical safety of residents who are aging in place.

Special design features in individual units and common spaces, such as emergency call systems, non-slip floor surfaces, and grab bars, will ensure the physical safety of residents who are aging in place.

Section 811 - Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities

Project description:

This project involves two single-family three-bedroom homes that will be used as group homes for persons with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The homes are part of a well established attractive residential neighborhood, in close proximity to shopping, employment and other desirable community resources. Both homes will have a wheelchair ramp for access. Making this type of desirable housing available to very low income people with disabilities has proven to contribute to their inclusion and participation in community life.

Project description:

The funds will be used for the new construction of an apartment complex for persons with chronic mental illness. The independent living project will consist of 18 one-bedroom units, community room with a small catering kitchen, laundry facilities and a project office. Two of the units will be barrier free. The community room will be available for on-site supportive services provided by community resources at resident request, including exercise classes, periodic medical checks and social activities.
