Project description:

Funds will be used to construct and operate a 61-unit affordable housing project for income-eligible elderly persons. The organization has been a very successful participant in the program since 1983. This will be the fourth such project to be built at Bethesda House's Upper Chichester Township location, which presently provides 220 apartments for independent living, forming a single supportive residential service community.

Project description:

The funds will be used for a three-story, new construction building with 47 one-bedroom units for very low-income elderly persons. The building will include a multi-purpose room, a mailroom, laundry facilities and library space. Also, space will be provided for distribution of surplus food, counseling, medical screenings, continuing education and other services to not only address the needs of the residents, but to also provide stimuli to encourage tenants to stay active in their community. The building will be located within 1/2 mile of shopping, banks, pharmacies and restaurants. Transportation is available to the tenants.

Project description:

The funds will be used for a three-story, new construction, building with twelve one-bedroom units for very low-income elderly persons. The building will also include public and community spaces to encourage sociability of the residents. There will be a community room as well as a sitting room and a laundry facility. The elevator will provide everyone in the building complete access to the entire building. The building will be located along the main street with close proximity to a supermarket, pharmacy, bank, post office and medical center. The surrounding level terrain will enable the elderly residents who do not drive to have the ability to be self sufficient and fully participate in the community.

Project description:

The funds will be used for a three-story, new construction building with 59 one-bedroom units for very low income elderly and one two-bedroom manager's unit. The building will also include a lounge, community room, maintenance area and manager office. It is to be located on a site with a significantly wooded area in the back. The entry lobby as well as interior and exterior social spaces will be designed to incorporate the natural beauty of the site. The site is within 1/2 mile of shopping, doctors, churches and other amenities. Public transportation is available at the site to all tenants.

Project description:

This project is for the development of a 65-unit elderly housing facility through conversion/adaptive reuse of the existing 5-story commercial structure located in the Roxborough/Manayunk area of Philadelphia. Portions of the proposed facility will be set aside and developed by the co-sponsor as an adult day care and geriatric services center.

Project description:

Funds will be used to construct additional housing next to an already existing St. George Apartment complex in Philadelphia's center city. The new project will provide 39 additional one-bedroom units as supportive housing for the elderly in the City's most historic neighborhood. Residents will be able to enjoy numerous services already in place at the existing complex. Optional services for residents will include case management, crisis intervention, home delivered meals and homemaker services.

Project description:

Funds will be used to provide 60 units of supportive housing for the elderly in Northeast Philadelphia, as well as a resident manager's unit. The project will especially focus on frailer elderly that may need extra help to maintain their independence - housekeeping support and two meals per day will be an option for residents. The new building will be near existing senior apartments, and within walking distance of a multi-functional community center. The location is close to shopping, transportation and religious institutions which is ideal for elderly persons. Federation Housing has much experience in operating senior citizen housing within an active, yet supportive setting.

Project description:

The funds will be used for a three-story, new construction building with 27 one-bedroom units for very low income elderly. The building will include an entrance court, facility office, resident office, out-door activity and seating areas and on-site parking. The building will be fully accessible and able to accommodate the needs of elderly aging in place. A small commercial district is within two to three blocks of the site. Several places of worship are also nearby. The site is directly on a bus route and a very short ride from downtown Pittsburgh.

Project description:

Funds will be used to construct Luther House II adjacent to the previously funded Luther House (currently under construction) project in Jennersville, PA. This development will help serve the need for affordable housing in this county by providing an additional 68 units. Luther House already has 160 people on the waiting list to move into this development. Total of 136 units to be provided at this site.

Section 811 - Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities

Project description:

Funds will be used to rehabilitate an existing residential property for a community-based group home providing affordable housing for 5 persons with chronic mental illness. This project will provide a family-like atmosphere. There is extensive demand in Bucks County for this type of project to be located in Bensalem Township.

Project description:

The funds will be used to provide supportive housing for the developmentally and physically disabled. The sponsor will acquire and rehabilitate 3 single family residences into group homes. Each of these homes, located in residential areas, will have a resident manager. Together, they will provide supportive living services to 9 adults with a developmental and/or physical disability.
