Project description: A 52-unit Section 202 project will be newly constructed in Johnston, Rhode Island to serve elderly residents and also provide supportive services which will allow the residents to live independently. Housing Opportunities Corporation, the sponsor, is a non-profit organization founded in 1983 in order to provide training and property management services for low and moderate income housing developed by the Women's Development Corporation which has developed over 550 units of housing.

Project description: A 10-unit building in North Providence, Rhode Island will be rehabilitated to serve people with psychiatric disabilities. The sponsor, Gateway Health-care, Inc., was incorporated in July of 1995 and is a network of affiliated mental health agencies in different communities throughout the state of Rhode Island. Through its affiliates, Gateway provides mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment services to residents in several Rhode Island towns.

The sponsor's purpose has included mental health services for children, adults and elders disabled due to mental illness.
