SUMMARY: The Sandia Vista Ltd., II is applying for funds to operate a Computer Learning Center at the complex. This facility will provide residents with the accessibility to computer technology, job assistance, health and educational resources, and clinical therapeutic opportunities. Funds will be used to obtain and update existing equipment to support staff, and to develop and provide adult education and literacy opportunities, job preparedness and career exploration, health issues/concerns awareness training, and access to a clinical therapist. Strong support exists for this project, ranging from tenants at the apartment complex to private business to public schools.

PROJECT NAME: Housing Authority Apartments
PROJECT STREET: 1300 Burley Court, 1500 Medina Dr.
GRANT AMOUNT: $125,000

SUMMARY: The plan for drug elimination plan will be used to continue and expand current drug prevention and resident development efforts under its Community Activities Program (CAP). The grant will allow for continued substance-free alternative educational and recreational activities for housing youth, use of New Mexico State University Work Study students as tutors, Americorp volunteers, physical improvements for security, and the Resident Trainee Employment Program under the direction of the CAP Coordinator, Funding will also be requested to continue the CAP Neighborhood Network Center for an additional year.
