1999 Multifamily Housing Drug Elimination GrantsLawton, OK 73501RECIPIENT: The Ambassador, An Oklahoma Limited Partner PROJECT NAME: The Ambassador PROJECT STREET: 2301 NW Williams GRANT AMOUNT: $193,697 SUMMARY: The Ambassador/Diplomat Apartments in Lawton, Oklahoma will use a comprehensive advanced state of the art 24 hour Security Surveillance System and Photo Sensitive Electronic Eye to reduce or eliminate drug-related criminal activity on our premises. The C.O.P. (Community Oriented Policing Officers) will work closely with our residents for supportive efforts to combat criminal activity. We will establish a Neighborhood Networks Center where our Resident Enrichment Programs will be housed. A van will be leased for our youth to provide transportation to after school activities, summer programs, sports events and other community activities for the enrichment and projection of positive image and lifestyles for our youth.
Oklahoma City, OK 73127 SUMMARY: The Multifamily Drug Elimination Grant funds for Terrace Apartments will be used to: 1) establish a community center on site that will house Camp Fire Boys' and Girls' after school and summer activities, 2) implement a series of workshops to instruct parents how to address issues related to drugs during the adolescent years, 3) offer self-defense programs designed for children, elderly residents, women and the handicapped, which are instructed by a retired police officer, and 4) add needed entry gates and fencing that will provide a safer environment for the residents.
Tulsa, OK 74105 SUMMARY: A community focus to develop partnerships that will enhance the program to reduce drug and crime related activity in and around Fairmont Terrace/Fairmont II Apartments. Through collaborating efforts from Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies, programs on drug prevention and intervention will develop, strengthen, and grow. The anticipated effectiveness of fencing, serving as a preventive, will reduce outside accessibility and increase resident safety 90 percent. Resident Council structure will strengthen through program efforts to support the Drug Elimination Plan.
Tulsa, OK 74106 SUMMARY: The Housing Authority of the City of Tulsa (Tulsa Housing Authority, or THA) has developed a comprehensive drug elimination plan for the Towne Square Apartments, located at 1607 East Young Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. THA will develop a Neighborhood Network at the housing community with computer training available for the residents. The Authority will also contract with community agencies in Tulsa to provide life skills training, drug prevention and drug education for the residents and job training services to assist the residents in becoming self-sufficient and free from the dependence of welfare assistance. The plan also includes funding to lease a van to transport the residents to drug treatment services, educational and vocational training. *Funded/State of OK Grant Totals: 4 Grant Amount : $595,345 Project Totals: 6 Project Units: 867
