SUMMARY: The Drug Elimination Program is to assist residents and management to work in a unified manner to implement community awareness and economic sustaining programs to afford quality communities. The program will consist of strategies to involve the residents, the management staff, police and community at large in promoting ongoing programs in drug awareness and self sufficiency.

SUMMARY: The Dilley Housing Authority and the Resident Organization will implement strategies to curtail that abuse of drugs in and around our neighborhood. An extensive approach will be used to combat/eliminate the drug-related problems by working with the local judicial departments. Residents will contribute to the effort by improving the neighborhood watch programs. Our location continues to be a problem, situated within walking distance of IH35. A major upgrading of screens and doors was a great concern of the tenants. Resident opportunites will be offered in methods of training awareness, and a comprehensive approach to reach the youth at a time in which they are most vulnerable.


Fort Worth, TX 76104
RECIPIENT: Pilgrim Valley Manor Trust

GRANT AMOUNT: $125,000

SUMMARY: Pilgrim Valley Manor has developed a "Drug Elimination Strategy" designed to target the "root" cause of drug related criminal activity plaguing Pilgrim Valley Manor Residents and the surrounding neighborhood. The owners/management along with the residents have formed partnerships with the Fort Worth Police Department, the YMCA of Metro Fort Worth and other social service agencies in an effort to eradicate drugs from Pilgrim Valley Manor. There points of attack begins with combined components: (1) rehabilitation of an existing site, (the former Oasis Private School) into a 2,100 sq. ft. Neighborhood Network Center; (2) youth activities which include a collaborative agreement with the YMCA; (3) office space for an "off-duty" police officer; (4) a computer lab; and (5) a multi-purpose room. All of these activities are designed to eliminate the sale and use of illegal drugs at Pilgrim Valley Manor.

SUMMARY: This request for a Drug Elimination Grant will reduce the access of drug dealers and criminals to the property, emphasize the zero tolerance policy of management for drugs and provide drug education and activities for children to offer them alternatives to drugs in their lives.


Nacogdoches, TX 75961
RECIPIENT: Nacogdoches County Industrial Trust Stan Sisco
PROJECT NAME: Eastwood Terrace
PROJECT STREET: 2700 E.Campbell
GRANT AMOUNT: $200,000

SUMMARY: Approximately 600 residents of Nacogdoches, TX will benefit from the Multifamily Housing Drug Elimination Grant Program that will provide the 192 residents units with comprehensive security improvements and a "state of the art" drug prevention program. The residents of Oak Hill Plaza and Eastwood Terace will receive computer labs for education and Project Alert Drug Prevention curriculum. It will target children, ttens, and families. The approach will be experiential in nature. It's prime objective is to assist residents in freeing their communicities of drugs and crime.

GRANT AMOUNT: $125,000

SUMMARY: Westmark/Monarch Properties at its San Juan Village Apartments proposes to strengthen and expand the already successful "Project Clean Sweep" in reducing drug-related crime and the activity caused by the use and selling of illicit drugs. Project Clean Sweep II will focus its efforts on empowering residents to create a safe and drug-free neighborhood for themselves. A comprehensive three-fold strategy including rigid management practices, a security upgrade, and an inclusive prevention program which will expand into different agencies that will provide our residents the tools to identify problem areas of not only their neighborhood but especially their families.


Tyler, TX 75702
RECIPIENT: Tyler Square Apts., LTD
PROJECT NAME: Tyler Square Apartments
PROJECT STREET: 1007 NNW Loop 323
GRANT AMOUNT: $125,000

SUMMARY: Westmark Management Company, Inc., is proposing a comprehensive program of services to address drug related crime problems in the Tyler Square Apartments community. The program will include fencing a portion of the community to prevent pedestrian traffic, installing access gates to limit unwanted drive-through traffic, improving lighting throughout the community and establishing a Neighborhood Networks Center that will increase youth involvement in alternative activities, improve family relationships, encourage parental involvement and provide employment and job training opportunities and skills.
