1999 Multifamily Housing Drug Elimination GrantsBellevue, WA 98007RECIPIENT: Housing Authority of the County of King PROJECT NAME: Hidden Village Apartments PROJECT STREET: 14508 Southwest 24th Street GRANT AMOUNT: $104,254 SUMMARY: The King County Housing Authority Hidden Village drug elimination program is a prevention based approach to reduce/eliminate drug related crime. The Hidden Village Tenants Association, the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club and the Bellevue Community College team with the King County Housing Authority to provide an on-site computer learning center for youth and adults, drug prevention education, family support activities, and community involvement. An outreach worker from Bellevue Community College will connect residents with free short term vocational training (Workfirst) for job preparation or job progression towards self sufficiency, and free classes to build work-related skills in adult basi educaiton, GED preparation and English as a Second Language classes.
Seattle, WA 98104 SUMMARY: Downtown Emergency Service Center's Courtesy Patrol seeks to reduce drug activity in the area around The Union Hotel and improve safety for residents of five Federally-assisted housing projects through a series of active measures: Maintaining an active patrol presence. developing relationships with local residents and merchants, persuading people in the neighborhood not to loiter, fight, engage in drug sales, engage in drug and alcohol treatment services as well as other services available in the community, and working cooperatively with Seattle Police Department to identify drug dealing and other criminal activity. *Funded/State of WA Grant Totals: 2 Grant Amount : $185,893 Project Totals: 2 Project Units: 130
