1999 New Approach Drug Elimination Grants

Affirmative Equities Company, Incorporated $250,000
Bristol, Connecticut

Affirmative Equities Company, Incorporated, has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with Bristol Court Apartments to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Bristol Court Apartments and the surrounding neighborhood. Grant funds will be used to make physical site improvements including lighting, fencing, landscaping, and security cameras. In addition, funds will be used to increase police presence on the site and to supplement the expansion of security with a private firm which will work with the Police Department to effect this goal. Further, funds will be used to provide interior and exterior building improvements to enhance security as well as to better the living environment for the residents.


Norwood Sound Limited Partnership $250,000
Norwalk, Connecticut

Norwalk Sound Limited Partnership has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Norwalk Housing Authority, the Norwalk Police Department, the Monterey Village Resident Organization, and the Meadow Gardens Resident Council to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Monterey Village. The grant funds will be used for additional police patrols in the neighborhood around Montery Village and Meadow Gardens.


Talcott Gardens Limited Partnership $242,778
New Britain, Connecticut

Talcott Gardens has been awarded $242,778.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the New Britain Housing Authority, City of New Britain, and the New Britain Police Department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Talcott Gardens and its surrounding neighborhood. Funds will be used to fulfill community policing contracts and increase law enforcement presence in and around designated assisted housing developments.
