1999 New Approach Drug Elimination GrantsCabell Corporation $120,015Denton, Maryland Riverview Gardens Apartments has been awarded $120,015.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the local police and community to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the Riverview Gardens neighborhood. This strategy includes a combination of supplemental police coverage, development of a community prosecution program, installation of security lighting on the exterior of the apartment buildings and management facility, and placement of video surveillance equipment in the public spaces surrounding Riverview Gardens and the adjacent community.
Cambridge Park Apartments $179,800 Cambridge Park Apartments (CPA) has been awarded $179,800.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Police Department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The grant will be used to strategically place security around and in the CPA complex. Funds will be used for fencing, security cameras, lighting, police patrols and a police substation rehabilitation.
Edgewater Village Apartments $78,446 Edgewater Village Apartments has been awarded $78,446.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with local law enforcement to provide a comprehensive, coordinated approach to eliminate drugs and drug related crime in the neighborhood. Funds will be used to reimburse local law enforcement above baseline services.
Hartland Run Limited Partnership $250,000 Hartland Run Limited Partnership, Hendersen-Webb, Incorporated, and the Baltimore County Police Department has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with Maryland Parole and Probation Division, Department of Juvenile Justice, Baltimore County Department of Health/Bureau of Substance Abuse, Baltimore County Attorney's Office and the Deep Creek Hot Spot Safety Team to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. Funds will allow for the establishment of a Police Sub-Station, increased police presence, and strategically located fencing. The targeted developments are Hartland Run Apartments and Gateway Townhouse, the entire Greens Community, will benefit substantially.
Lexwood Apartment Associates Limited $237,930 The Lexwood Apartment Associates has been awarded $237,930.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The funds will permit the addition of a Deputy Sheriff who will be devoted to drug elimination in the Lexwood Drive Community, the addition of fencing adjacent to the property to stop drug dealers and abusers from operating in the community, improved landscaping that will permit the community to feel safer from drug dealers who escape into the woods adjacent to the property, the addition of speed bumps to slow down traffic into and out of the property, and security day-lighting for the only drive that accesses all four complexes from Great Mills Road.
