1999 New Approach Drug Elimination Grants

Cranbrook Manor of the FORMIDABLE Group has been awarded $225,800.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with local law enforcement officials to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The FORMIDABLE Group will attempt to eliminate Cranbrook Manor's crime and drug-related problems through increased security, new gated entrance way and upgrades to the on-site police mini-station.


Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids, Incorporated $233,000
Grand Rapids, Michigan

Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids, Incorporated, and Weston Apartments has been awarded $233,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Grand Rapids Police Department and the Heartside/Downtown Neighborhood Association's Public Safety Committee to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood plan to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the area. The plan is to build upon steps that the police department has taken in the area by extending the community policing service to further patrol Weston Apartments. Grant money will also be used for capital improvements, security cameras and related equipment, and improved lighting in the halls and stairways at Weston Apartments.
