1999 New Approach Drug Elimination GrantsHolly Ridge Apartments $250,000Lumberton, North Carolina The Westminister Company, acting in its capacity as Managing Agent for Holly Ridge Apartments, has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood plan to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the public and assisted housing communities. Grants funds will be used to fight illegal drug activity and associated crime, make physical improvements to improve security, and provide two additional police officers.
Newgate Garden Apartments, A Limited Partnership $250,000 Newgate Gardens has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with Federal, State, and local government to provide a comprehensive, coordinated, neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the East Central neighborhood of High Point, North Carolina. The funds will support additional community-based policing, law enforcement special operations, CCTV cameras, and other improvements designed to enhance the safety and security of residents.
Statesville Housing Authority $250,000 The Statesville Housing Authority has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the local police department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated, neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the area. Funds will be directed at improving lighting, address recognition, and other security issues to create a drug-free neighborhood.
Thetford Properties Limited Partnership IV $250,000 Thetford Properties Limited Partnership IV has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with local police authorities to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the Holiday Town neighborhood. Thetford plans to have two part-time police officers to vigorously address the illegal drug and drug-related crime incidents taking place at Holiday Town Apartments I and II in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The Holiday Town will also fence the perimeter, construct a mini police station onsite and install surveillance cameras to improve apprehension and prosecution of those found violating drug laws on the premises.
