1999 New Approach Drug Elimination GrantsAsbury Towers Associated Limited Partnership $250,000Asbury Park, New Jersey Asbury Towers has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the local police department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated, neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problem in and around its neighborhood. Asbury Towers will work with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office to support a satellite office created out of the original Safe Neighborhood Program. In addition, law enforcement, above baseline services, will be funded through the Prosecutor's Tactical Narcotics Team. Grant funds will also allow for additional security equipment and security staff.
Bridgeton Villas 1 & 2 $250,000 Bridgeton Villas 1 & 2 and its management company, Interstate Realty Management, has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Bridgeton Police Department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Bridgeton Villas. The funds will be used to achieve a reduction in drugs and increase arrests and prosecution of drug-related crime in the assisted households of Bridgeton Villas as well as its surrounding neighborhood.
Brigantine Homes Associates $250,000 Brigantine Homes Associates has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Atlantic City Police Department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The New Approach Anti-Drug Grant will provide increased police presence by the Atlantic City Police Department for the 453 assisted households residing at Brigantine Homes, Atlantic Villas, Townhouse Terrace East II, and Townhouse Terrace West.
Continental Management Company $214,560 Continental Management Company and Social Enterprises, Incorporated, have been awarded $214,560.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the East Orange Police Officers, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, and the Essex County Bureau of Narcotics to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the 5th Ward of East Orange. Funds will be used to: augment uniformed security patrols provided by off-duty East Orange police officers', enhance the investigations and prosecution of drug related crimes through the use of undercover narcotics officers provided by the Essex County Bureau of Narcotics with support from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, and develop capital improvements that enhance the security of the projects.
Delsea Village Apartments $250,000 Delsea Village Apartments has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the County Prosecutor's office, County Narcotics Unit, and Drug Enforcement Agency to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Delsea Village Apartments. This plan shall continue to identify potential criminals and their illegal activities.
Jersey City Management, Incorporated $222,760 Jersey City Management, Incorporated, has been awarded $222,760.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the New Jersey Police Department, and the Hudson County Prosecutors Office to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Van Wagenen, Kennedy Manor, and Bergen Manor Apartments. The major elements included in the program are: augmentation of armed, uniformed security patrols provided by off-duty Jersey City Police officers; enhancement of the investigation and prosecution of drug-related crimes through the use of under-cover narcotics officers and partnership with the Hudson County prosecutors office; and the development of capital improvements that enhance the security of the projects, such as additional lighting and closed circuit TVs.
Penn Village Associates $249,309 Penn Village Apartments has been awarded $249,309.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with Silver Run Apartments and Penns Grove Gardens to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The grant will fund overtime police officers and purchase or upgrade current camera system to provide additional surveillance on the properties.
Roosevelt Manor $243,010 Roosevelt Manor has been awarded $243,010.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Carteret Police Department to provide comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Roosevelt Manor. The funds will be used to increase the presence of the Carteret Police Department for the 378 assisted households in the Roosevelt Manor neighborhood.
Sebastian Village Associates $250,000 Sebastian Village has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Narcotic Strike Force/Tactical Narcotic Team, the City of Asbury Park Police Department, Neptune Township Police Department, the HUD Office of Inspector General, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, New Jersey State Police, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in Sebastian Village. The selected authorities will conduct a cooperative operation to reduce narcotic activity and crime in and around Westbangs Avenue, Neptune, New Jersey.
Vita Gardens/Bethel Non Profit Housing $250,000 The Vita Gardens assisted housing development has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Asbury Park Housing Authority to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood plan to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the Southwest neighborhood of Asbury Park. This strategy will include working with Monmouth County's Prosecutor's Office to support a satellite office created out of the original Safe Neighborhood Program. In addition, law enforcement, above base-line services, will be funded through the Prosecutor's Tactical Narcotics Team. Funding provided will also allow for additional security equipment and security staff.
Wade East Apartments d.b.a. Broad Street Association $250,000 Wade East Apartments has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Millville Police Department to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The main goal of the program is to keep crime activity at its lowest level through proper law enforcement.
Westfield Garden Apartments Limited Liability Corporation $250,000 Westfield Gardens Limited Liability Corporation has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Camden Housing Authority, the St. Joseph's Carpenter's Society, the Westfield Avenue Business Association, and various law enforcement task forces to provide a comprehensive, coordinated plan to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the Camden Neighborhood. The New Approach Anti-Drug Program will specifically fund efforts to augment street patrolling, enhance the investigation and prosecution of drug-related crime in and around the housing developments, and provide for capital improvements. Activities include the installation of lighting, fencing and a police mini-station upgrade.
