1999 New Approach Drug Elimination Grants

Oak Grove Limited Liability Partnership -- $250,000 -- Lexington, South Carolina

Oak Grove Limited Liability Partnership and the River Oaks Apartment complex have been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Sheriff and Solicitor of Lexington County, South Carolina, to provide a comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the South Irmo community. The new resident deputy and substation will utilize community policing and work with residents of River Oaks to develop a strategic plan for community plan prevention. Area businesses have already committed resources to the plan and agreed to participate. These efforts should be a major barrier to criminal activity in the community.

Oakview Village A limited Partnership -- $250,000 -- Taylors, South Carolina

Oakview Village I and II has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will partner with the Federal, State, and county government to provide a omprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. Funds will support additional policing, law enforcement special operations, additional lighting, and other improvements designed to enhance the safety and security of residents. Owners will intensify their review of applicants, continue to enforce all lease provisions fairly and firmly, and take other measures designed to make Oakview Village and the surrounding area a safe, drug-free community. Key partners in this effort are the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, County Solicitor's Office, residents, and the community.
