Knoxville, Tennessee

The Tabernacle Apartments has been awarded $250,000.00 under the New Approach Anti-Drug Program and will provide comprehensive, coordinated neighborhood approach to eliminate drugs and other crime problems in the neighborhood. The funds will be used to complete the implementation of the TRUST program, a comprehensive drug elimination plan which began in 1993. The intent of this program is the elimination of drug-related crimes perpetrated on low-income residents of the neighborhood. The TRUST Program has implemented activities to enhance the personal safety and development of the residents of their neighborhood, such as fencing the entire property, installing additional lighting, installing a high tech surveillance system. The hiring of police officers to set up a mini-station on site and patrol the neighborhood is the final phase of the TRUST Program.
