University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) -- Grant Amount: $ 466,665
UAPB will continue to participate in the long-term revitalization of North Pine Bluff through: housing and business development; educational enhancement programs; and community empowerment assistance. UAPB will partner with the City of Pine Bluff in addressing the substandard housing conditions of North Pine Bluff by implementing a new single-family home construction program through the Southeast Arkansas CDC and its for-profit affiliate construction company-SEARK Community Builders, Inc. The educational preparedness of K-2 students will be improved through the continuation of a UAPB/Dollarway School District Tutorial Program. Community-based employment opportunities will be created by providing businesses seed grants to SEACDC. Operational stability of UAPB's non-profit partners - Southeast Arkansas and Family CDCs will be ensured. A facility will be constructed to house the UAPB Economic Research and Development Center. All activities will focus on the need of low to moderate income residents in the University Park neighborhood located on the north side of the City of Pine Bluff.
