STATEMENT BY SECRETARY CUOMO ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT

WASHINGTON - Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo issued the following statement to mark the ninth anniversary today of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act:

"America is enjoying its greatest economic recovery in recent history. Yet segments of our diverse national population have been left behind. At HUD, our job is to ensure that every citizen, including the 43 million Americans with disabilities, have an equal opportunity to pursue their chosen career and become a proud, productive member of the community. These 43 million Americans possess the abilities every community needs to build a better future for all its citizens. We need all our citizens and all their abilities to help us continue this unprecedented economic growth."
