Rural Housing and Economic Development 1999 GrantsPROJECT SUMMARY: INDIANA Lincoln Hills Development Corporation (LHDC), in Tell City, IN, will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount of $160,000. LHDC will construct a duplex apartment unit for grandparents caring for children in Perry County. The duplex will consist of a two-bedroom apartment on one side, and a three-bedroom apartment on the other. It has become urgent to create housing of this type in Perry County due to a sharp increase of grandparents caring for children. The Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service will work with LHDC to provide child-care, educational and other supportive services to the tenants. In-kind resources and other funding total $40,000 in support of this program. Key participants include: Perry County Step Ahead Council, Perry County First Steps, and the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service. Contact Person: Larry K. Kleeman
