Rural Housing and Economic Development 1999 GrantsPROJECT SUMMARY: LOUISIANA Northlake Community Development Corporation in Hammond, LA, will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount of $176,008. Funds will be used for start-up costs to hire staff and develop an action plan to address affordable housing and economic development needs for lower income communities in the region. This program will serve three rural parishes with small populations including migrant and seasonal farm workers in southeast Louisiana, Tangipahoa, St. Helena and Washington Parishes. In-kind leveraging resources total $65,400 in support of this program. Key participants include: Northlake Community Development Corporation, Tangipahoa Area United Way, Motivation, Education, and Training (MET), Deposit Guaranty Bank and First Guaranty Bank.
