Rural Housing and Economic Development 1999 Grants

PROJECT SUMMARY: PUERTO RICO

Rural Opportunities, Inc., in Rochester, NY, will receive a Rural Housing and Economic Development Grant in the amount of $390,065. The applicant proposes to build 50 units of housing in each of the 6 service areas in Puerto Rico, anticipating construction of 300 homes throughout these areas in the mountainous agricultural region in the southwest part of Puerto Rico. This program will serve Adjuntas, Jayuya, Lares, San Sebastian, Utuado and Yauco. In-kind leveraging and financing resources total $750,000 in support of this program. The key participants include: Freddie Mac, the NRC, the USDA.
