Youthbuild 1999 Grants: Project SummariesLouisiana
The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government, Houma, LA, will receive a Youthbuild Implementation Grant in the amount of $650,000. The 25 participants will be learning on-site construction skills by working to build one house with added energy savings features. The house is located within the Housing Authority of the City of Houma. The program will provide a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase the academic, leadership, and vocational skill level of trainees. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $144,135.37 in support of this program. Key participants include: The Work Connection, Catholic Social Services Program, Housing Authority of the City of Houma, Louisiana Technical College, Terrebonne Parish School Board, Terrebonne Youth Explorers, Community Development Block Grant, and Community Services Block Grant.
