Youthbuild 1999 Grants: Project SummariesMississippi
Mississippi Delta Community College, Moorhead, Mississippi will receive a Youthbuild Implementation Grant in the amount of $650,000. The 40 participants will be learning on-site construction skills by working to build two new single family homes which will be sold to low and moderate income families. The program will provide a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase the academic, leadership, and vocational skill level of trainees. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $528,348 to support the program. Key participants include: Hollandale Economic Development foundation, LISC, Innovative Education for Girls, Inc., Washington County Board of Supervisors, Parent Teen Learning Center, Mississippi Action for Community Education, Town of Metcalfe, Washington County Economic Development Office and the City of Hollandale.
