Youthbuild 1999 Grants: Project Summaries

New Mexico

Youthbuild New Mexico Coalition Inc., Albuquerque, NM will receive a Youthbuild Implementation Grant in the amount of $400,000. The 24 participants will be learning on-site construction skills by working to build three new single family homes which will be sold to low and moderate income families. The program will provide a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase the academic, leadership, and vocational skill level of trainees. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $180,967 in support of the program. Key participants include: City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County Albuquerque Public Schools, TVI, Neighborhood Housing Services, Mortgage Financing Authority, Home Builders Association, Personal Development Inc., Associated General Contractors, Albuquerque Metro Central Intake, New Mexico Department of Health, Family and Child Guidance Center, New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund, YES Housing Inc. and Bank of America.

Taos County, Taos, NM will receive a Youthbuild Implementation Grant in the amount of $400,000. The 28 participants in the Enterprise Community will be learning on-site construction skills by working to build five new single family homes which will be sold to low and moderate income families. The program will provide a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase the academic, leadership, and vocational skill level of trainees. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $50,000 to support the program. Key participants include: Alhouse Inc., Taos County Economic Development Corp., Amigos Unidos, Inc., project SST, Community Against Violence, La Jicarita Enterprise Community, Town of Taos, NHS of Santa Fe, People's Bank, Siete De Norte Housing Development.
