Youthbuild 1999 Grants: Project SummariesRhode Island
Providence Plan, Providence, RI will receive a Youthbuild Implementation Grant in the amount of $400,000. The 60 participants will be learning on-site construction skills by working to rehabilitate one home and two new construction housing sites on the Youthbuild Providence training sites. The program will provide a comprehensive and integrated effort to increase the academic, leadership, and vocational skill level of trainees. Cash and in-kind leveraging resources total $605,000 in support of this program. Key participants in the program includes: Americorps, DHS, DCYF, JTPA, RI Foundation, and Youthbuild USA. The Providence plan has received Youthbuild implementation grants in the past.
